About

Beef for Boarders: Supporting The Scots College Boarders

We’re excited to share an update on Beef for Boarders, a unique and meaningful fundraising initiative in support of the Scots Boarders Bursary Fund.

This special project brings together our Prep School students, host farms, and the broader Scots College community to support regional families through the donation and sale of cattle. The proceeds go directly to the Bursary Fund, helping to make a Scots boarding education more accessible for students from rural communities.

How It Works

  • Classes or individuals can ‘buy’ and name their own steer, adding a fun and personal element to the experience.
  • Track their steer’s progress online — including regular updates, weight tracking, photos, and more.
  • Compete in a friendly challenge to grow the heaviest steer, with recognition for the winning class.

At the end of the season, all steers will be sold at market, with 100% of the proceeds donated to the Scots College Boarding Bursary.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Beef for Boarders isn’t just a fundraiser — it’s an interactive way to teach students about:

  • Agriculture and food production
  • Responsibility and teamwork
  • The power of giving back to community

Call for Host Families – 2026

The Scots Boarding Bursary Foundation is currently seeking expressions of interest from farming families willing to host steers as part of our meaningful Steer Fund program in 2026.

This initiative plays a vital role in supporting rural students through bursary opportunities at Scots.

If your family is interested in getting involved, please contact committee member and Steer Fund leader, Mr Mark Barber, at mrkbarber60@gmail.com.
