The Kater Family

About The Kater Family

The Kater family—Hugh and Amanda, with their children Audrey and Jock—run a broadacre mixed farming operation near Trangie, NSW. Their 8,000-acre property supports a diverse enterprise including wheat, barley, canola, cotton, and oats, alongside a 500-head breeding herd. The business combines scale with heritage, balancing cropping with livestock to maintain a resilient and productive system. Jock represents the fourth generation of Katers on the farm, continuing a long-standing family connection to the land. Hugh Kater (’94) is an Old Boy, and his son Jock (’26) is proudly carrying on the family tradition as a current student at the College.
